I tried connecting my Sony wh-1000xm4 headphones via Bluetooth to our lg 49UH850V tv and the sound was very low and poor. Therefore I tried a wired connection and this time I only got sound through the right ear. So is there anything I can do to sort this? Do I need to change a sound setting first. I tried it on my old LG TV in my room and it was fine on that. I did use an extension cable if that's relevant.

That suggests that you are only connecting on one channel. Is the wired connection a stereo on (has 2 or three lines around the connection depending on whether it supports a microphone as well).

Make sure it is well connected as sometimes it will only connect to one channel if not fully inserted.

Obvious question, have you made sure the cable jack is fully connected/pushed in?

Also, are you plugging it into the correct 3.5mm socket, one is AV Composite In (not the one you want) and the other is the Audio Out 3.5mm.

Yes it has 3 sections. Also as i said it worked on the older tv ok. If it were mono it wouldnt work on that either would it. I am wondering if order of doing things can impact. For example should i connect before or after the tv is on. Or should i turn the headphones on before or after.

there was no mistake there, definitely was the headphone slot.

Probably a silly question, but hey that's me. Have you tried the phones on your pc/phone/tablet lately?

Sounds like (in one ear???) that TV socket is a bit dodgy then. Have you any other headphones or even PC speakers that use the jack connector

We have some cheap and nasty headphones that i think worked ok with it, not sure though. Its not the cable because it worked fine on tv in my room. I am going to try again later as i know sometimes these things can be annoying. I connected up before turning everything on before. This time i will turn it on before connecting. It sounds silly but sometimes things like that work. I started this here because i wondered if i was doing something wrong when connecting or if a setting needed changing.
