Urgent Travel insurance help

Good afternoon.

I have bought flights and camping tickets to awakenings In the Netherlands next weekend (flying out on the 29th of July 2022) My friend purchased these for 6 people, with me sending the money to him. £471

Unfortunately, I have had an injury and have prolapsed disc in my back and really doubting whether I should go. I currently have Coverwise Gold annual multi trip insurance. Would this be covered if I cancel and do not attend? Getting a report from the doctor will be no issue. My excess is £50 for each section so I am assuming I would lose £50 for the flights and £50 for the festival and camping. Will that impact any other travel insurance I get in the future?

Thank you in advance!

Was the injury before the trip was booked? Could mean you have a pre-existing condition which would have needed declaring to the travel insurer.

You need to check what you policy covers, there are so many variances it will be hard for anyone to advise.

Thanks for your reply. No the injury was last week and is not a pre existing condition. Have had the current insurance for about 6 months.

That's good news then. I would call and speak to the insurer and ask whether you would be covered should you not be in a position to travel and what the costs to you would be. You don't need to actually start a claim, just get advice.

No, travel insurers dont normally ask about previous travel claims.

Irrespective of the claim side you now do have a new medical condition/injury and that will be declarable for travel insurance and will impact premiums/cover
