Annual increase of £4250.55 for gas and electric can't be right! Can it? : (

I lost my fixed rate supplies last year, they went bust, neon reef and zog. I was fixed at 14p per unit for leccy and 2.9p gas. I have now fixed with British gas at 34p leccy and 11.9p gas EDF. I'm suffering like millions of others my energy has gone mental. I have not had a pay rise for three years yet need to source this additional payment like many millions of us.0

Loss of discount,yes. However, I am not like every second poster here who seems to be having kittens because of ‘price’ increase , which is simply educated guesswork on the part of the power companies.sammyjammy said:
The trouble with this approach is you lose the DD discount, I changed to variable direct debit on receipt of bill, they only bill every three months but I just put aside a monthly amount.mumf said:We are with Eon next. No direct debit. The problem with DD as I see it at this time,is that the calculated guesswork of what you may use has shot through the roof. But it’s just that; Guesswork. We simply send a meter reading each month,they send us the bill. Simple. But it takes a little work,which I think is why DD is popular with energy consumers.
I set a reminder on the phone ,but they send me one anyway,so it’s not that difficult.

Not sure what you mean with educated guesswork of the suppliers?mumf said:

The "guesswork" is based on predictions of Ofgem and Cornwall Insights and has nothing to do with the energy suppliers.
Of course the suppliers also read the predictions and act accordingly (removing offers or increasing fixed rate offers), but they are not involved in the process directly and will start to calculate their new SVT rates once the cap is published.
All the better for you if you don't need to react to potential price increases and high costs.1 -

Thanks for the info.I am new to this forum and didnt realise how bad Outfox The market were until i read some of the comments on here. I have spent a few days this week trying to get other quotes online but don't seem to be getting anywhere... they all seem to say the same thing.. "Right now we can't offer any new quotes and will monitor the prices".... How do i change if no-one is taking on new customers??1

@mjdrae
There are three options for a switch.
https://www.greenenergyuk.com/
Sparking fixed rate comes out under the expected October price cap rises
Octopus will take you on their SVT if you contact them direct (I recently check by way of email to them) you could then look at tracker v3 and Agile tariffs once you have switched to them
EDF will take you on their SVT3
