HSBC Direct Debit - can't verify

Good afternoon. Trying to set up a direct debit with a company using my HSBC sort code and account number. I'm getting an error saying they can't be verified. It's worth noting, all other companies have accepted these details. Anyone else ever had anything like this? HSBC blaming the company and the company blaming HSBC. I've had the account 7 months so definitely can't be "because it's a new account".

The issue is - I have swapped bank accounts and when trying to set up the direct debit with my loan provider, it doesn't recognise the details so at present, the only way I can pay my loan is via fast transfer. Not ideal.

Got the loan company to set it up, job done.
Give them a call.
