car insurance no claims bonus rules on 2nd car

2 Posts

Hi, two car family thinking of going down to one. The older car will need lots of work to pass MOT and maybe
not worth it given age / mileage (alternative is to buy another 2nd hand car £££
).
Both policies are in my name with their own no claims bonus. If I don't renew but then say in 3 months time realise we can't
manage with one car can I still get insurance using the no claims bonus of the old car we didn't renew on?
(and does it make a difference if I'm taking insurance out on a "new" car or the original one (assuming I get it through an MOT)
Anything else I should consider / might catch me out ?
Thanks
