Do I need to report a tax rebate ?

I paid too much tax last year when I was working but now care for a poorly little person. Do I need to call UC or will they know how much to adjust the UC by as it's paid by HMRC?
I'm not sure if it was worth accepting the rebate, although it's a bit more than the UC, I assume it'll just stop the UC payments for one month?

You need to inform UC of the tax rebate.
Unfortunately it will be treated as earnings and reduce your UC for that month, a deduction of 55% of the rebate.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0 -
Ok thanks, I'll let them know!0
