Car bump not my fault - do I have to tell my Insurance provider??

10 Posts

Hello,
Last summer I parked my car in a supermarket car park. When I came out, a driverless parked car had rolled into mine and caused damage. The other car owner came out, they admitted fault (hand brake wasn't on).
My car was repaired at the dealership I bought the car from, they handled everything including dealing with the other owner's insurance. There was no cost to me, the other owner's insurance paid for everything, it cost my insurer nothing.
Now my next year premium is due. Do I have to mention this incident to my insurer?
I'm bothered that if I don't, somehow my next year cover might be invalid.
John.
