Universal credit new claim advance

Hoping someone can clear this up for me, I was wondering if a universal credit new claim advance is the amount you are entitled to before or after wages are taken into account?

As it would be paid before your first wages of the first assessment period, do they go by an estimate? For example, IIcalcukated we would be entitled to around £1,100 without wages taken into account and around £450 with, so which of these amounts would our advance be?

They usually work it out as around what your maximum UC entitlement will be before any deductions. Do remember that this needs to be repaid back and it will reduce your future UC payments.

Thank you. I have been trying to ask on the Citizens Advice Web chat but they don't seem to understand what I mean and said it is AFTER deductions for wages, but couldn't clarify what they would base this on if wages differ slightly each month and the advance would be laid before the first assessmentperiod ends. I then tried asking people who receive UC and they said it's before deductions, so I didn't know who to believe 🤣

As @poppy12345 said, it's definitely before any deductions for earnings have been taken into account, for the simple fact they will not know how much you will earn in the month until the month has ended.
