Cost of Living payments WTC/UC dates

Hi, I was on WTC on 25 May 2022, but am now on UC; when will the first installment of Sunak's £650 be paid - July or later in the Autumn?

Any advice welcome.

You won't qualify under UC if your claim started on 25th May. Your assessment period needs to end between  the period 26 April 2022 to 25 May 2022.

For tax credits the criteria is as follows...  To get the first Cost of Living Payment of £326, you must have received a payment, or an annual award of at least £26, of tax credits for any day in the period 26 April 2022 to 25 May 2022. If you qualify through tax credits you will receive the £326 in the Autumn.

Hi, I understood that, but just wondered if changing to UC would change payment dats. Probably not then.

No because you would qualify under Tax credits, not UC.

Presumably in the OP's case its possible that if they qualify for the second payment under UC they may well recieve the second payment either before or very close to the first payment under WTC?

Potentially but there's no way of knowing that because HMRC haven't announced when exactly in the Autumn it will be paid.

Looks like first payment under WTC and second payment under UC.

We don't know that yet either. The criteria for the 2nd payment hasn't been announced yet and if someones earnings reduced their UC to zero in the qualifying timescale they won't be entitled to the CoL payment.
