Hi Guys

It's been over 10 years since I ran up a few credit card debts. I contacted a debt management company some years ago that have been making monthly payments to the debtors on my behalf. However, Capquest keep phoning me (which I don't answer) and even though I blocked their number a few months ago, they still manage to leave an automated voicemail on my mobile. This is happening almost daily and I'm quite annoyed with these nuisance calls and messages. Any advice on how I get them to stop this harassment please?

Personally I'd go for answering just one of their calls, and telling them that they need to put anything they have to say to you in writing, hard copy sent by post. Don't confirm or deny ANY details - they are calling you, which means they should already have all the info they need. Close the conversation by telling them that any further contact by telephone will be seen as harassment and reported accordingly.

Can I ask which debt management company you are using ?

Is it one that charges ? do you get regular statements ?

If it is, then Unfortunatly these companies have a terrible reputation for bad account management, sometimes the payment never reaches the creditor, some companies operate a pooling type system where your money goes into a pot over time, and after they take their fee, they pass on what`s left to the creditor, and its not normally much.

Hopefully you have been sensible and used one of the free debt charities, can you clarify this for us please, because there will be a reason why Capquest want to speak to you.

I don`t normally advise conversing too much with these companies, but if its a simple matter of a budget or payment review, its a 5 min job, and then there off your back.
