I have been listing lots of free items on FB marketplace , mainly China tea and dinner sets (I kept them all thinking they might be worth something again one day but they are just taking up room). Actually put in description that they might suit a car booter , especially the larger boxes of mixed glass and China items.
Had someone ask me about a couple of lots (Let’s call them A) but they were on items that were already due to be picked up, so I sent my standard reply about if they weren’t collected in 24 hours I would get back to them. Got a bit of a strange email back saying they thought that I should rethink allowing people to take these things to resell when charities are desperate for good quality items, and charities were of more worth than people just making a quick buck at a car boot. I did respond saying that I had so much stuff that I physically cannot walk it all to the local charity shops and unfortunately despite one or two saying they would call me to collect, they never did. A came back to say he was connected to one of the local ones and he would collect from me and deliver my items, but I needed to message him and not just list this stuff for everyone to grab. So I did, I sent him photos of 2 lots, mainly crystal vases and bowls plus a couple of tea sets, he said he would get back to me that evening to arrange collection, and that was last Thursday and I’ve never heard another thing.

Sold an item on Thursday to a buyer who 'desperately' needed the item to arrive by Monday.
Posted Friday AM via Special Delivery (added extra at my own cost).
Was out for delivery Sat - no-one was home.
Emailed buyer on Sunday to inform him it was at his local delivery office - he responded saying he would collect Monday.
It's now Tuesday and he hasn't collected - guess having it by Monday wasn't so important after all, and my out of pocket upgrade from 1st Class Signed for to Special Delivery wasn't needed as much in the first instance!0 -

Listed a sofa on FB marketplace in a local buyers and sellers group when we lived near Leeds for the grand sum of £25. I would frankly have let it go for nowt to save me having to smash it up to fit in the tiny car and take to the tip, and it owed us nothing, but thought I’d see if anyone wanted to make an offer.Get a message: Will you take £20
The following plays out over 72 hours.
me: Yes I will
Him: Great, can you post it to me, I’ve lost my licence so can’t collect it
me: mate it’s a sofa, I can’t post a sofa, sorry deal off
Next day:
him: ok would you drop it off at my house?me: no because it won’t fit in my car
The day after that:
Him: Do any of your friends have vans
By this point as it happens my FIL who is a builder is coming over at the following weekend in a van with some slabs to sort the patio with me, so actually yes I do now have access to a van. Stupidly, I message back:
It might be your lucky day. What’s your address?Him: Fenham, Newcastle.Me: Sorry, I’m not driving a £20 sofa over 100 miles then another 100 miles back.Radio silence for three days.Him: Would you post it?I blocked him at that point. It ended up going to a chap 3 minutes away for two pints in the pub if I helped him carry it to his house, which suited me much better1
