Don't store onions and potatoes near to each other. Potatoes store better in the bottom of the fridge, and onions in a dark cool place.
I've been doing thi since my friend told me about it last year, as I used to store my onions and potatoes in thesame cupboard and find my potatoes last much longer.

Lemons last much longer if kept in the fridge, and can be frozen - they loose texture so not great for your G&T, but fine for cooking. In fact easier to squeeze when thawed.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Competition Time, Site Feedback and Marriage, Relationships and Families boards. over ripe bananas are great to freeze and then thaw when needed for my beloved banana oatmeal muffins. I hate bananas once they get freckles so just hold my nose until they are well past that but not yet really manky. Peel, drop into a plastic bag or pot. I freeze them in 3s as that's how many I need for a recipe. But if I only have 2 I alter the recipe and use a small egg.
Be warned. When frozen they are the sort of thing certain non observant individuals (you know what I mean ladies) will mistake for frozen sausages and will be disappointed that having thawed them they don't get their fry up the next morning. Be also aware that when bananas are frozen and then thawed a LOT of water comes out so it's best to thaw in a large bowl (pref still in the bag). Use the entire contents of the bag as all that water is normally in bananas and you'll need it for your recipes to work properly. But having been thawed they mix in much easier than normal so it works out really well.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe and Old Style Money Saving boards. If tomatoes get too soft for salad/sandwiches, I freeze them and use in any tomato based sauce.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Competition Time, Site Feedback and Marriage, Relationships and Families boards. store your tins upside down. That way when you go to open them - from the proper top end - there's nothing stuck to the bottom. Works great with beans where normally you can end up with quite a few unwilling to come out.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe and Old Style Money Saving boards.
