Are you crooked ? (Bent)


My savings account was frozen, I could not access my money. Can it happen to you? You bet it can.
So last month I got a unexpected call, this person wanted to have a chat, so I said ok, then he said I need to ask you some security questions, I said no and put the phone down thinking no more of it no alarm bells.
So a week back same call same person, asking same questions, I said no, but this time out of curiosity I logged on to web chat via the mobile app.
1st question - What your employment status ? Answer, unemployed.
2nd question - Where did you savings come from? Answer, house sale.
3rd question - Can you prove it? Answer, Mind your business.
Left web chat and soon found out I was locked out of the account. So in short to prove this is my money the onus is on me to prove it.
So a bit miffed I go hunting for a solicitors letter proving I sold a house, couldn’t find one. Even more miffed now! I realized I sold my house when covid lock down was on, so it turns out correspondence was done by email. I did archive my relevant email. Great, with this letter and a downloaded bank statement I now have my proof.
So logged on to web chat, Turns out now they are having IT issues!
My bone of contention is –
This is a savings account not a current account, money was not flowing in or out. Quickly max out to 85K, had the account 3 months.
Although I was frozen out of the account if I attempted to log in the home page showed £0 in the account ! (I have taken a screenshot)
Their IT issues, not my problem.
So to round this up I had to email a pdf solicitors letter and pdf bank statement.
The question is, say this solicitors letter was a posted document, I haven’t got a flatbed scanner, do you? So possibly a long delay to resolved this upsetting issue.
Is there a case for human rights issues here for stress and worry? Yes, a verbal complaint has been made.

Yep, that's a good way to get your account blocked.
If you don't have a flatbed scanner, buy a phone with a camera on it. That would sort it.
There's no human rights issue here. They asked some questions around KYC and AML and you declined to answer. The stress and worries stemmed from that point.

When my bank phones me and asks me to answer security questions I always so no.
I go on to tell them that I am uncomfortable giving sensitive information to an unsolicited caller.
Then I say that I am going to call the bank on an official phone number, either on my bank card, or some other official source.
They always say this is fine and possibly give me instructions on which department to ask for.
I have always resolved all of the relevant issues using this process.6 -

Alternatively, they could post the letter itself and ask for it to be returned.4 -
