Common ailments scheme

This tip will probably only work if you are entitled to free prescriptions. The scheme covers 26 common ailments incl cold sores, indigestion, hay fever and dermatitis. Rather than buying medicines you can speak to a pharmacist who will dispense as they would for a prescription from a doctor. I was able to save £9 by getting my usual ointment this way, as I live in Wales where we have free prescriptions, but it could benefit people in other parts of the UK who qualify.
