Off work Sick-benefits?

Good morning.
I broke my collar bone so off work sick until it repairs itself which might be a while as I need a metal plate fitted.
I'm a single dad on Wtc (minimal amount) but only get SSP and was wondering if there's any additional financial help I can get as struggling to keep my head above water.

Universal Credit is the only other benefit that's possible to claim. If you claim this your tax credits and housing benefit (if you claim it) will end. Council tax reduction can be claimed from your local Authority.

Doesn't seem fair that having worked all my life and paying taxes this is all I get when I need it the most.

There's New Style ESA but it can't be paid at the same time as SSP. (which is less than SSP to start with anyway)  There's no other benefits to claim other than what i advised above. If you're currently renting your home and you don't claim housing benefit then you'll need to claim UC for any help with the rent. Your tax credits will then end and you won't be able to reclaim them.

Claiming benefits has nothing to do with paying your taxes.
