Universal Credit vs Tax Credits

Hi just after some advice, on if we should apply for UC or wait till we’re forced to. We’re a bit of a strange case, as we’re are living in temporary accommodation until council find us a property. I earn 30k, partner doesn’t work. 5 children (only 3 qualify tho) .

currently get small amount of TC, small amount of HB and normal amount of CB.

so would be be better on UC or staying put.

Best thing to do is use at least 2 benefits calculators. If you're living in temporary housing then help with your rent will continue to be paid through housing benefit, not UC.

UC is based on earnings received during your monthly assessment period, where as TC is based on the previous years earnings.
