Moved to property - what are my options re gas and elec supplier
Hi, I have moved into my property and I need to register with the existing gas and elec supplier which is ecotricity. I would usually then look around for best deals, in the current situation is that possible? Worth doing?
I would appreciate some advice re energy suppliers and whether inaction (moving to another supplier) is the best action in this case.
Thank you.
Thank you.

If you're happy to take a fix then you can probably choose any supplier but most fixes are very expensive at the moment.
I believe only a couple of companies are taking new customers at the variable capped rate, one was Octopus, the other may have been EDF, someone will put me right if it wasn't. With both you have to ring them and ask if you can move your supply.Barnsley, South Yorkshire

Only EDF and Octopus are known to take on new customers on the SVT and only if you call them, not on the web site.
Unfortunately you have to stick with Ecotricity for 21 days as you are automatically on their deemed tariff. Ecotricity is exempt from the price cap as they are suppliers of "green" energy, so most likely they will be more expensive, I believe latest I have seen was over 33p per KWh.2 -
A question related to this. I have a friend whose supplier is Octopus. She has a referral link that in normal times would presumably let me sign up via the web, and would save us both money. Does anyone know if this link will work if I have to join by phone?0

There were quite happy to do so when I switched by phone. I'm not yet on supply but I have no reason to believe that it won't be honoured.danco said:A question related to this. Just done a switch to Octopus over the phone. Their site allows you to provide a referral code after 'sign up', I'm guessing only for a limited period.
If anyone has a code (If they even provide them) happy for you to send me through private message and make us both a cheeky £50.0
