Morning all, we had rain overnight again but now it's just damp and humid, we are forecast thunderstorms for later though. I was up early and went to Ald*s for some shopping and my trolley was full again 🤔 Somehow I bought some cutting discs and a hand sander 😏, why didn't I stick to online shopping as I said I would, then at least Mr Fix It can't put things in the trolley from the middle aisle 😂 He'll get no pocket money this week ! I did let 2 people go in front of me as they only had a couple of things each to pay for so that's my good deed for today 👼
I did most of the baking yesterday, lots of fruit pies and corned beef pasties then I ran out of steam. There's still some corned beef mixture left so I'll make a small pie today. I've put the freezer stuff away but I'll need to play tetris to put a loaf of bread in, then I'll put the rest of the shopping away.
Just had an emergency call from Dad, some problem with his electrics and he wasn't making a lot of sense so we'll go up and try to sort him out first.
Take care all

Hi everyone,
Late today while Esben is napping. I was very tired this morning and went back to bed for a while. Probably because I spent yesterday afternoon cooking. I made Madhur Jaffreys foil wrapped baked chicken, mushroom rice and karhai broccoli together with Anna Jones' Daal with roast sweet potatoes, it was all delicious. I also made an aubergine parmigiani lasagne for later in the week, I decided it would be easiest to barbecue the aubergines, which it was but I was standing in the rain doing it.
I'm sorry for not mentioning more people but I am barely keeping up with the thread atm. However, have a good break TA and I hope all the poorlies are ok. I hope you get your dad sorted Nanny.
Have a good day.

Good afternoon all, just been trying to book a holiday for myself and my DDs ma -iaw Margaret .She's had a not brilliant year and we went away for a short five day break before lockdown ,and she really enjoyed it.She's just had her second eye done for her careracts so needed something to look forward to.
She's 85 and bright as a button and we get on pretty well so I tried to get us a break in Devon but the company had no single rooms avaialble, but I have managed to sort out a five day coach break with B.B. & E.M. with entertainment nightly, and a pick up coach point near to where she lives, and one near to me. So door-to-door virtually for £269 per head. We had used the company before and the hotels are the same lesiure group as before so we know the meals are quite nice . I have not been to Wales since about 1950 when I was little so Portcawl is our destination
I phoned her up and told her and she is delighted bless her ,she really needs cheering up after various ailments and a flooded bathroon and kitchen ceiling collapsing on her. So if you see two little old dears jigging along the front at Porthcawl in October it will be us .
included in our trip are two full day excursions as well so not too bad value wise. I need to know whats nice to buy in Wales to bring home for the family

Afternoon all. We had rain overnight continuing into this morning and now the sun is out, rather hazy, but very warm and muggy. More heavy rain showers expected later in the day and possibly thunderstorms. However, it is supposed to be better for the rest of the week. We'll see.
How disappointing and annoying TA that your delivery was cancelled at such short notice, I hope Aldi has everything you need for your trip. A very curious explanation too. I think I've only ever had one cancellation and that was down to a heavy snowfall in winter when the roads were closed in a lot of places.
We had a very lazy Sunday, most enjoyable, and today I've got lots of little jobs done, so feeling quite virtuous.
Tea tonight is pork steaks in BBQ sauce, peas and baby potatoes. While the oven is on I'll also cook a mini pizza that was hiding in the freezer (extra cheese topping needed - they're quite stingy with it) and some vol au vent cases. They'll keep in an airtight tin until I'm ready to fill them with something for lunchtimes. That could depend very much on what I get tomorrow in my delivery as there seems to be an awful lot of items oos at the moment. When I looked at my Favourites list there were 21 regularly bought items not available! And a couple more price increases. :'( Whatever I don't get I may be able buy in store later in the week when I can do a detour from the pharmacy after picking up DH's meds. I say "may" because last time I was there, their shelves had a fair few gaps.
Jackie - Your planned break to Wales sounds just the ticket for you and Margaret. We've always found those kinds of holidays good value for money, especially out of high season, and they definitely need the custom after the last couple of tough years. Enjoy.
Hope you manage to sort out dad's electrics, nanny.
Coffee is calling - and a piece of ginger cake - so I'll wish everyone a peaceful rest of the day. Take care. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.11 -
Thanks Gers - glad she made you smile x
Its chucked it down all day here until about 10 minutes ago. I got soaked coming home so went straight in the bath and then put my pyjamas on. Nice and cosy now.
No one arrived to do my gas service but there was a card through the door when I got home - apparently they came at 12.18 - I had said I would be going to work at 11.30. Booked it again for a month's time and again asked them to make a note that I need them to come before 11.30.
Going to wash my dishes and then read a bit more of yesterdays Times.
Oh got my £150 from Council Tax paid into my bank today x9
