When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important 😀

Hello all - happy short-week-after-a-bank-holiday! How many of us have already made the mistake of thinking today is Monday at least once?!

Little MSE things for me so far today:
    - Banking checked
    - £150 council tax rebate transferred to our "electricity buffer fund" account
    - Free teabag used for a cuppa in the office earlier
    - MSE article about lease extensions forwarded to the other half with a suggestion that we hold off on ours until we see if there is an implementation date announced for new legislation around them.

We're both now back in the office full time - I have been for a while but MrEH's firm have demanded everyone's return from today. Annoying but there you go - we'll wait and see whether in practise him doing a single day of WFH going forwards might be considered OK, but intially it'll cost us the additional tube travel (5 days up from the 2 he was doing previously) and an additional day's diesel too as he'll be commuting on his own on a Friday.

    Morning!

Sorry for not checking in but I was so busy at my parents' that I didn't get a chance to draw breath or think for the most part! I got home yesterday and spent the afternoon tinkering with a new project. I have wanted to try spinning for a couple of years now and I finally got myself booked onto a beginners workshop in July. Now the opportunity for a vintage spinning wheel came my way so I have purchased. New wheels are super expensive and the restoration project will keep me occupied! It was coated (badly) with a nasty brown painty varnish. I spent the afternoon stripping it off. It needs to dry then I will treat the woodworm. Once the varnish was off, it became apparent that it's a bit of a "Frankenwheel" as some of this bits appear to be different and others missing. This has kind of pleased me as it means I can restore it however I like and i won't be ruining an antique.

    MSE list:
    :star: B/L/D from stores
:star: Towels on hot to clean the washing machine, then outside to dry - inside by the dehumidifier as the rain has set in longer than anticipated
:star: Work from home - done
:star: Sew some more of the evil never-ending blanket
:star: Listen to Arne and Carlos podcast
:star: Go for my constitutional walks
:star: Put woodworm treatment onto spinning wheel (although the paint stripper probably didn't do them any favours!)
:star: Finish off budget sheet - done

    Spendy things:
:star: Post a parcel to my cousin - done

    Have a lovely day all

    Hey all - happy Wednesday!

    Mine for today:
    - Banking checked
    - A few small items cleared off CC rather than leaving it to one big money shuffle when the statement comes in.
    - Precautionary check of NI contributions to make sure I have no gaps - confirmed that I don't, so all good there!
    - Meal plan done for a full week ahead - using almost entirely storecupboard/Fridge/freezer items - next week's shopping will be milk, fruit & veg, basically.

I was planning on going to the gym this evening straight from work but have decided against as it's my first day back cycling for part of my commute after Covid and it just feels as though adding the extra 4 miles on to go to the gym will be a bit "too much" - trying really hard to listen to my body on this one and not rush things!
