Malibest Resort vs AB Motel in Langkawi

Hi,

Thinking of going to Langkawi in Apr 2008. We are 2 adults and 1 six-year old child. Sort of decided to stay in the Pantai Cenang area as it's got a fairly nice beach for my son to play and quite an assortment of restaurants to partake in the local food.

Question: Has anyone stayed at either the Malibest Resort or AB Motel in Pantai Cenang?

My brother had mentioned that Awana Porto Malai (not in Pantai Cenang) has an Island Relaxation package at RM394.20 (online rates).
Package Entitlements
  • Two nights stay in Superior Garden View Room
  • Welcome drink upon arrival
  • Daily buffet breakfast for two persons
  • One dinner for two persons
  • Free return airport transfer for two adults (For additional adult/children 3-12 years old, RM10nett will be charged per way)*
  • 15% discount on water sport facilities
Trying to decide whether to go for the Awana package or just get a room at Malibest or AB Motel and eat outside. Has anyone stayed at the Awana and is the beach comparable to PAntai Cenang?

Thanks.

  • Hi,

Our family stayed at both Malibest Resort and Awana in July 2007. Both have benefits.

We have a 9yr old boy and 12 yr old girl. They loved having direct access to the beach at Malibest. (If you do book here make sure you have beach side accommodation). Awana is more upmarket and has breakfast included, but is a bit away from everything and there is no beach, although it has a great pool area for children. If you were to stay there you would need to hire a car.

We passed AB Motel and didnt find it very appealing. We are heading back again in July 2008 and are booking in at Malibest for the 8 nights we are there. We think it is the best accommodation along Pantai Cenang at the best price. The superior or family rooms are great. Only RM135 per night.

    Hope we have helped.

    Perthchick,

Thanks for the reply. Will definitely avoid Awana since it hasn't got a beach. Pantai Cenang it is then.

    Cheers.
