DIY Probate.

In the online application for Probate one of the qualifying questions is "do you have the original will?" Is that by definition the will held by the departed persons solicitor, we have signed copy of the will, and also solicitor certified copy of the will but are these enough to satisfy Probate, or do I need to ask the solicitor for the original copy? The terms are slightly confusing, as also stipulated is the Original Death Certificate, but the one issued to us by the registrar state on them copy, in effect there is no original certificate available to the next of kin registering the death. I guess I can see why people pay the professionals.

If you have the signed version (not a photocopy of the signed will) then you already have the original.1

Theree should only be one 'original' with the actual signatures of the deceased and the witnesses.....

The green versions of death certificates that you're issued with by the registrar for £11, say at the top "Certified Copy of an Entry" - the certificate itself is a document repeating the information entered onto the register of deaths and is signed in pen at the bottom by the registrar or deputy to be a true copy of that entry.
So if you've got a green watermarked certificate, wet signed in pen, then that's an original for this purpose.
If you have the original will - or get it from the solicitor - ensure that you don't remove any staples if you want to photocopy or scan it - just fold the pages back. The two I've dealt with recently both had little triangular corners of coloured paper, printed with the Solicitors logo, over the top left corner of the pages, that was then all stapled through.1
