Small payment on credit card each month - I pay it - credit card says payment not needed

Hello everyone:

I assume this is due to the fact that the payment occurs between billing months or something. However:

I have a Barclaycard with a zero balance - I don't use it for anything other than paying off my web hosting every month - it is just shy of 5 pounds (sorry no pound symbol on keyboard).

The card has only been cleared for a few months so I can't really notice that many "patterns". However, each month this payment goes onto the zero balance, I leave it for a week or so to see if the credit card requests payment, it doesn't, so I pay it anyway. My monthly payment due date usually falls on the 7th or 8th of each month but I am met with "no payment due".

Is there an explainable reason why this is happening or is something wrong?

My lines of thought are:

1. Too small an amount, credit card waits until it gets to a larger amount to charge interest (unlikely)?
2. Fault with app.
3. I am not leaving it long enough for interest to be applied -between payment windows.

Thanks

Graham

Are you trying to pay when it shows on the app but before a statement is produced?

Your payment due will be shown on your statement. They don't get in touch with you throughout the month for individual transactions.

If you're paying it off before the statement, then nothing will be due.

    Hi @Deleted_User:

I work abroad and have online statements so I do all of my account management through the app. I routinely check it and see the payment has been taken from the account for the sum of X but then all of the above happens i.e. it says no payment required (or words to that effect).

    Thanks

I don't see the statements as I work abroad, so yes possibly.

    Thanks

If you're paying before production of the statement, it will show no payment required.

You can access the statements online - so you should be able to take a look at when previous ones were produced - so you'll have an idea of when they'll be generated monthly. (It can vary slightly due to weekends and bank holidays). So if you find out your statement date is around the 25th - and your payment is dropping out on the 5th - and you're paying it on the 20th - it'll never request a payment, as it's always clear by the time the statement is produced. To test it - find out when the last statement was produced - and then next month, don't pay the balance until after it's produced. You can then still settle as normal without any interest to be paid - but can see the 'minimum payment request' kick in.
