Why do I get the feeling they will open a non paying bidder case?  Have you checked your payment methods? did the
    funds get taken?

If not then the CS may suggest they open the NPB case, they cannot chase a missing payment that was not actually made.

I checked all payment methods at the time of the transaction and a few days after, no payments have left.   What I don't want is that I send the item back and suddenly there is a charge or this NPB case you mention.  Any suggestions?  Keep in mind the seller is not trustworthy.

You haven't paid - there is no scheme at all on ebay here in the UK or anywhere that takes payment immediately without some input from seller.

As above, if seller accepts their error and marks it a sunpaid then an NPB case can be opened- at that point I would be on the phone to ebay pointing out that item was receievd and returned as SNAD , they have a full record of your messages and they should close the NPB. I suspect seller won't open an NPB as if you then paid and he sent the item you would just open an SNAD again and he is out another two lots of postage.

That's what I wanted to remember above! Offer to send this back with a pre paid tracked label- make sure message goes through ebay messages and if you get anything back again, just repeat that item is SNAD and you will return it once you have a label.

If you don't show you have an intention to return this then you could end up with problems as it could be assumed you intend to not pay and keep the item- so cover your back and keep asking for the label so you can return.

  • You'll have to forgive me then because i'm getting lost.

So the seller marks it (accidentally you say) as item paid for.

They must know whether an item has or hasn't been paid for surely?
Maybe it's because i'm a small time seller but i only ever send when I get notification there's money come to me.

Why would a seller actually send the item if it hasn't actually been paid for? Makes no sense to me.

Whatever the actual goings on, it sounds like a right mess.

There is a clickable link right by the send invoice link  (although I am aware that there are several different versions of eBay). If seller goes to ‘send an invoice’ but clicks on ‘paid’ by accident then seller will assume it has been paid for. So as far as seller is aware item has been paid for, so why not send it?

I have clicked the wrong thing myself but luckily realised immediately, but I can see how it could happen.

It’s just complicated by the fact that OP believes seller to be a scammer, when the seller has just made a mistake, and then complicated further by seller not sending exactly what was paid for.

Whilst I usually try and err on the side of not everyone is a scammer it is possible for someone to be a liar/scammer and a blithering idiot. Reading through this that may well be a possibility. They may have got so excited at working a scam that they accidentally pressed paid and didn't notice.

I totally agree, I just didn't think the bit about marking as paid showed it was a scam, it was more, as you say, that the seller is an idiot.

Presumably it should read 'Has the seller marked as lid paid before you actually have?'
A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".
