Just looking to clarify something.

As the H2B Isa pay in is per calender month, if i pay into this before 5 April i assume it classed as 21/22 year.

Then after 5 April i can contribute to a normal cash isa, but can't fund H2B isa for 22/23 year.

Is this correct?

I don't have a 'split' type H2B isa.

You should check the cut-off date for new 21/22 contrubutions with your provider, but in most cases the answer is yes. You should aim to do so as early in April as possible (i.e. Friday 1st) in case of delays or banking glitches.
