Probate delayed "further 8 weels"

Good afternoon
The property on the end of our chain (3 house chain) is awaiting probate to be granted, the information I have managed to gather from the estate agent is as follows
17th November 2021 - Application sent
18th January 2022 - Application reviewed
Probate office chased end of January to be informed there was an 8 week delay and that the application was only started 18th January 2022
1st March - executor's (x 2) had to both wet sign a document and return (this was returned to probate office 4th March
16th March - Update from end of chain solicitor probate "is being worked on"
17th March - probate office advised they have all the paperwork they need but there is a "further 8 week delay in this matter"
Estate agent has said that the end of chain solicitor has expressed the urgency due to a potential chain collapse to the probate office
My question is annoyingly, how soon do we think this probate is going to be granted? Based on peoples experiences? Our buyer has just had to get a new mortgage as his expires 30th March. Our Mortgage is due to expire 18th June. I don't have access to the person who's applied (Its the property being brought of the people who we are buying off) and cannot get any further details...I HAVE TRIED!
The property is selling for approx £420,000 so I assume inheritance tax will need to be paid
Anyone help put my mind at ease somehow?
Thank you

If this is the second spouse dying and they are leaving the house the house to close family, there could be no IHT; limit goes to to £1m depending on other circumstancesIf you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0

Read this thread for timelines based on others' experiences: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6340018/probate-acknowledgement#latest
I believe each case is very individual. Some people have had much faster turnaround times for grant of probate.
I would hold off applying for a mortgage until the GoP is received. The issue is, you want to lock in a low rate, and those good rates are fast disappearing from the market as the BoE increases the base rate.0 -

Thank youGoogling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!0 -

Congratulations - a massive weight off your mind I'm sure!
So that was 19 weeks from application, with Christmas and New Year in between, so not bad going considering it's been known to be longer for some people!0
