Previous employment

Hi all,

Could anyone please help me out.

I am currently applying for a job role but it wants 3 years worth?

The employment section only has a month and a year to input. I guess (mar 2022 - mar 2022) is counted as one month ?

I need work history totally 36 months don’t I ?

Thanks in advance for all your replies

Ben 😊

If you have only worked for 1 year and 1 month in the past 3 years that's all the employment you can enter.  For the rest of the 3 year period you will need to explain what you were doing e.g. College, unemployed, career break, prison.......

As "mar 2022 - mar 2022" could be less than a week, it can't on its own count as a month.

If it wants 3 years employment history then it means the whole spread of the time totals 3 or more years (depending on the start date of the first job you list.  So for the period mar 2019 - feb 2022.  You couldn't count, for example, apr 2021 - apr 2021 written 4 times as being equal to 4 months work.

They aren't asking for 36 months of employment to be listed but every job you've held since Mar 2019 (inc anything started before Mar 2019 that you left in or after Mar 2019)... obviously by saying 3 years it saves them having to update the form each month.

I think what General Grant is saying that if you did have 4 jobs in Apr 2021 so they were all listed as Apr-21 to Apr-21, that would still only account for one months work, not 4 months.

Quite simply write down every job you have had since Mar 2019 and if you started and left in the same month, then so be it, that is what you write

    for example

Jan-2019 - Dec-2019 Job Details (this is before Mar 2019, because it is the start date of the job "you" were in at Mar 2019,
    Dec-2019 - Feb-2020 Job Details
    Mar-2020 - Aug-2020 Unemployed
    Sep-2020 - Sep 2020 Job Details
    Sep-2020 - Sep-2020 Job Details
    Sep-2020 - Oct-2020 Job Details
    Nov-2020 - Mar-2021 Job Details
    Mar-2021 - Mar 2021 Job Details

    and so on -

    Thank you for clarifying this.

I’m assuming then from what you have written above the “sept 2020” you have put twice still equals to one month employment?

3 years will be anything from now, going back to 2019 April?

Thanks again for your assistance and sorry for being so dumb

Yes, If you had 2/3/4 jobs in one month, its still just one month.  But you are overthinking this - just put down every job / period of unemployment you have had in the past 3 years.

    Thank you Tizerbelle,

I must say I am an over thinker generally in life which doesn’t help stuff like this.

    Thanks again
