Are there trends in flurries of activity for people selling houses?

I'm trying to hold out a bit of hope since the number of properties on the area I'm focussed has dropped 5-10% since I first looked on 1st Feb. Have you noticed any patterns when homeowners seem to get their houses on the market, i.e. at the end of a month, they decide 'enough is enough, let's move' and it takes EAs two weeks to get them listed, meaning there's a flurry of additions around about mid-month?
Or anything else you can think of?
Not asking for a crystal ball, just anything people might have noticed in the past, please.
I know activity is meant to pick up in Spring, but from what I saw, a record number of people put their houses on the market in January and a record number of people were looking early, so that 'trend' doesn't seem to be reliable any more.
Secondary question: when I reply to someone else's post and they reply to my comment, I don't seem to get a notification, which means I may miss questions being asked of me. Am I doing something wrong, or is it just the forum design?

There isn't a box for that for me under 'edit profile.' Just my email address, username and a tickbox about skimlinks, whatever they are.Slithery said:

Once you've clicked on 'Edit Profile' there should be a 'Notification Preferences' option on the menu on the left.KievLover said:

People get their photos taken on a Monday so things are added late Tuesday...
That's the only one round here I've spotted and I'm not sure if it's real thing or just something I convince myself of each week when I'm disheartened!0 -
I think it should pick-up in Spring once the weather improves. You have to factor in why people move and things like wanting to be in the new home for the start of the school year is key.Sadly the cold weather will be too much for some so again more houses coming on the market in Spring (although with covid, things might be running a little behind). Also do you want to get moving house when it's cold, wet, snowy and icy?May you find your sister soon Helli.

We noticed when we were looking for rentals for most of last year that the good stuff came early in the week, and the dregs from Thursday onwards (the far less nice properties), so it's possible this is a real thing.jenni_fer said:People get their photos taken on a Monday so things are added late Tuesday...

The sales cycle got disrupted because covid effectively shut the industry down in early 2020 for a few months and then people were reluctant to engage in more risky activities like have people come round you house. .
look at the transaction data there is typically a rise in completions over the summer(they lag from going on the spring market).

Chart 5 goes back enough years. 2020 was down 2021 was up(catch up time ) and early signs are 2022 may go back to more normal.

Those stats look pretty reassuring, thank you.getmore4less said:The sales cycle got disrupted because covid effectively shut the industry down in early 2020 for a few months and then people were reluctant to engage in more risky activities like have people come round you house. .
