Single trip or Annual insurance ?

I am 71 years old with a few health conditions (nothing too major) and will be going to USA for 2 weeks end of September 22.
Flights are booked (staying with relative) so no hotel needed.
Do I take single or annual insurance (not intending to be going anywhere else abroad this year) ?
With single trip, if I developed some illness that between now and September would stop- me going ,would I be covered for flight cancellation ?

Your single trip insurance starts as soon as you take it out until you get back from your holiday.  If the terms and conditions of the insurance cover you for the illness then yes, you get refunded.  The only time I’d maybe look at an annual one would be if you think covid regulations would change and you are stuck in USA for longer than you had anticipated.

Absolutely single trip covers from date of purchase until date of return... this confuses lots of people!

Its worth getting the price for annual too, in my opinion, price difference may be very small (or even none) in which case it maybe worth considering if there is any chances of another trip in the next 12 months... clearly with no other travel plans if its materially more then it doesnt stack up

Make sure you declare your health conditions that you currently have when taking out insurance or you wouldn't be covered for anything related to them if you had to make a claim.
