Old Style Daily New Years Day 2022

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Good morning folks and a very Happy New Year to all those who read or write here. 🎉🎉🎉
Predictably, I was in bed well before the Bells. 🔔 I'd had phone calls from family who already had arrived in 2022 and friends still in 2021. A wee glass of cheer found its way to me which I used to toast all the absent friends and family. 🥂
I wish everyone here a peaceful, fulfilling and healthy year, another one in which we keep supporting, encouraging and caring for those we hold dear, even in the virtual world.Happy Saturday. ❤️❤️12 -
Morning sheepies
Thanks for the thread Gers and hugs to all those in need.
Very misty here this morning, I think I'll stay in bed a bit longer as Beano is in no rush to get up.
Happy New Year everyone.
Take care and have a good day.
Hugs Hester

Morning folks and thanks GERS. I too was in bed well before midnight but I was woken up by the inevitable fireworks going off. It was all very subdued however and I was soon back asleep. Probably helped along by a couple of glasses of Baileys!
My plan for today was to take all the decs down and get them put away but this isn't set in stone and may well be postponed until tomorrow. Watch this space on that!
Have a good day folks and, once again, have as happy and healthy new year as possible. Fingers crossed it's a better one than the last two! ((HUGS)) as always for all who need them and take care one and all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"13 -
Happy New Year!
I went to bed before the bells but woke up again and had a cup of tea in bed, I know how to celebrate! There were a few fireworks but they were short lived as it was very wet and windy.
DS2 and his DP are safely back in The Netherlands, they went for a test before they left and we had lunch in Glasgow, they now have to stay at home for the next 4 days. It was amazing having everyone here but I did enjoy a relaxing evening at home last night on my own!
Lovely to hear from JackieO, please say hello to her from me Nelski.
Great to hear from you too Mehefin.
Off for a dip in the Loch this morning and dinner at friends this afternoon, I shall relax in between! Take care. XX

Happy New Year everyone !!
We had a great evening with all the family with lots of fun and laughter, but GGP Betty didn't arrive as her son had tested positive yesterday morning, she was gutted but thought it best to stay away. We brought the DGC back with us and we all finally went to bed about 1.30am. I woke up at 7am so I'll be shattered later, but I'm enjoying the peace and quiet before the DGC wake and expect their breakfast. I think they believe they are in a Prem**r Inn as they have ordered a cooked breakfast each and DGD wants a croissant too 🤣 Mr Fix It has arrived now but thankfully he's pretty quiet about the place. Lunch will be more party food as I didn't cook everything from the freezer on Boxing Day and then DD will come to collect the DGC later. I will then collapse into a heap on the sofa 😂
Nels are we having a "Free Jackie O " campaign ? I'm all for that, I miss her posting, she was one wise lady.
Hope everyone has a good day, whatever you are doing.
Take care all

Morning
Well that was one of the best sleeps Ive had for a while. Went to bed early and then apart from half an hour when we became Beirut slept through to 8..most unusual but very much appreciated. Like TA I am putting it down to a few Baileys
Its really warm here again today which is good considering how much gas is going to rise certainly no heating here atm
Enjoyed the Camembert last night with a couple of films.
Today is favourite PJs, a gammon roast dinner and more trash tv. May well be caught singing very badly to Sound of Music later
nanny yes its a full campaign to bring back our wise owl. Posted last night a message from her and after a chat after she may be conceding. She does lurk so I reckon between us we can get her back
Have a good day all

Good morning and Happy New Year, everything crossed for a vast improvement on 2021.
Gave in and went to bed about 11:30, put on some soothing music and was very soon asleep. Quiet in the MM house today, have a stinker of a head cold and have now lost my voice. Did a quick top up shop, was double masked, not crowded so was able to keep away from others.
No plans for today really, gammon to slow cook, I would love a little GF cake, so may try a recipe from my new (present to me) Becky Excell baking book.
Please sign me up to the bring back Jackie O campaign, lovely lady, I too miss her.
Take care all, returning the hugs and taking advantage of the ones you have sent across the airwaves - thank you.The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)11 -
Nels add me to the Jackie petition too. She has been absent for too long! X"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"10
