EBay Buyer requested return but has not responded…

Hello, please can I have a view/some assistance?
I listed an item on eBay that was sold for £30. It was new but listed it as “used” as had not used since purchase some 4-5 years ago - I made this clear in description. Buyer immediately messaged me (on receipt) saying the item did not work + demanded their money back.  This is unlikely but I know ebay always sides with buyer so I told the buyer to open a case via eBay and I would send a return label.  A week or 2 later buyer messaged + asked for my address to return the item and I again replied saying please open a case via eBay and I would issue a return label.

It has been over a month now (possibly a month and a half) and I still have not heard back from the buyer - please can someone tell me - what is the process? What are my options in this situation?
Thanks in advance

They were probably trying it on, just ignore it if there's no case open with ebay.

As above, ignore it now, buyer is out of time for a return.

Do nothing. Ebay have a process the buyer should follow.

Hi, just to add that I totally agree with what everyone else has said.

You've done the right thing by advising the buyer to go through eBay. They probably wanted to keep the item and have their money back too which is why they haven't gone via eBay themselves.

There's nothing more you can, or should, do.

Serial returners and chacers try to do returns direct and don't want to go through the system.

It may be that they have already had a warning from Ebay and know they are on their last legs with them.
