eBay closing or suspending accounts & holding on to money

It seems to me that eBay have a glitch in there system somewhere. Reading many complaints on Trustpilot (take a look) they seem to be closing or suspending accounts & holding on to money with no good reason. It all stems from when eBay switched from PayPal to managed payments earlier this year. I know this from personnel experience I have 100% positive feedback and 20 years membership with current seller level above standard. When requested to register managed payments earlier this year I completed managed payments registration with the required information. All went through perfectly and I started to receive my payments direct to my bank, then one day early June all my listing were cancelled and my account indefinitely suspended.  At first I thought it was just me and something I had done although I couldn’t think what it could possibly be? Their customer Service is among one the worse I have dealt with and at first would not tell me what the problem was only telling me that my account was a danger to the eBay community, and when I did get to the bottom of it turned out to be due to the inability to verify my account information. This was the last message I got from them

“After further review of your account, we've determined that the inability to verify your information poses too great a risk to the eBay community. Due to these concerns, any funds not already paid out will be retained by eBay”

I was then told eBay couldn’t complete the verification of my account and thus they would not be able to send the funds of £159.73 that was in my account. This was because eBay could not resolve the suspension and complete the verification.

This is a catch 22 situation (“a situation from which an individual cannot escape because of contradictory rules or limitations”)

At the moment I am in the process of appealing this on-going dispute with the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier Luxembourg an independent  International arbitration.

I am interested if anyone else is having a similar problem. I have moved on now to another selling platform

Was there any issue with your details? the only real issues still being reported are where details failed to match. Some are irritating issues like using the name Jenny on ebay but the bank account being in the name Theresa Jennifer Smith and therefore a mismatch . Others are more serious and fail the required money laundering rules- ie having a bank account in an entirely different name especially where it looks as though there is an attempt to get round a previous ban by using someone elses details.

Back in the summer There were a number of people asked to scan and upload official ID, passports, driving license etc as a double check- that did cause some people issues and it was about the same time as you report having your initial problems- did you manage to upload everything successfully?

Edit; there were also some issues around certain bank accounts not being allowed - it was several months ago now and most people seem to have either closed their ebay accounts or opened a new bank account just for ebay.

As far as I am aware there were no issues with my details I have the same name and bank details I used on PayPal previously and still do. I was asked to asked to scan and upload official ID my passports and driving license again as far as I am aware no issues. As I said in my previous thread I started to receive my payments direct to my bank fine to start with. I have only ever had one eBay account for 20+ years used the same name and user name.so who knows?
