Missed appointment to fit smart meters
I’m with British Gas and arranged for smart meters to be fitted in October. I received a text cancelling the appointment on the arranged day and arranged for it to be done another day.
The installation was completed without issue on the rearranged day.
I did spot that there was a £30 fee due (either way) if the appointment was cancelled with less than 24 hours notice and a Google search suggested that this had to be done automatically within 10 days or another £30 became due. The British Gas website only shows this for micro business customers though.
I waited 3 weeks or so and had not received the compensation so queried it by online chat and was told that I was only due £30 and that this would be arranged. I left it another month and still nothing so online chat again and I got the same story.
I actually wrote a letter of complaint yesterday, printed it off but checked my account before getting an envelope only to see two credits, one for £60 and another for £10. There are no details for these but I’m assuming that it’s two £30s and an additional £10 as I can’t think of any other reason for such credits.
it’s not a life changing amount but handy nonetheless. This is the sort of thing that I might have forgotten to chase and thought it worth mentioning on here.

I hate verisimilitude.
