This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark, air feels milder.
DH and DS1 up and getting ready for work, I'm showered and dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was a use up of different things, fish, rice, jacket potato with tuna mayo and salad. The LO pork was Sunday's roast will be dinner tonight with mash/roast potatoes, veg, yorkshires and gravy.
Work today is my half day, I have osteopath appointment this afternoon, in the vague hope they can do something for my back - we'll see. I still have loads to do for xmas no where near ready.
Keep safe and well x

Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
It's very mild here and has been for a few days we got a pump out yesterday, bought a new gas bottle, filled up with diesel and paid for three bags of coal to be delivered so we are sorted for a couple of weeks now, Steve filled our water tank up too.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester.Chin up, Titus out.12 -
Good Morning Everyone
Not too cold this morning but still damp out. Hoping it's a bit brighter today, yesterday didn't seem to get light at all.
Some good news - DD and her Partner got engaged on Monday, he went down on one knee in the middle of Edinburgh and of course she said yes! They are still away at a very posh hotel in Crieff until today so I shall probably see them later when I take her car back.
Thinking of you today Csarina.
Great Santa Florence!
Really good to hear from you Nanny.
Hope you're feeling better now dp1.
Right, must get ready for work, it's the Christmas parties today and I think there may be a visitor for the little ones.
Have a good day, take care.XX14 -
Good morning, thanks for starting NMLC.It seems to be mild here, yesterday was a pleasant day. Hello Nanny, glad to see you back, sorry to hear you haven't been well. Don't get in a twitter about Christmas, it'll come and go as it always does.Coxy, glad your dad is coming home, you'll be so pleased.Taff, you sound as busy as usual, like Izzy, dear me, that lady gets through some work!DP1, glad you're feeling better, hope your DD will be ok.Gers for a terrible minute when I was skimming through yesterday's posts I thought you were dining on mealworms.Yesterday the MC wasn't too bad, we went from the hospital at Gateshead, managed to park in M&S car park, it was busy, but I went straight to the 2 shops I needed, got what I wanted then straight home - it was busy, biut I was home by lunchtime.Once DD and I went in the week between Christmas and New Year - we had to park on the very top level of the multi storey, so outside, the place was packed and it took us ages to get out when we were going home. it was terrible. To add to the fun it had started snowing when we were in there so everything was wet and slippery when we came out. Happy days - not.Going to Dob*ies again this morning, meeting friends for a pre Christmas natter. It'll be busy there.Hope you had a good lunch yesterday TA.Better get my A into gear, hope everyone has as good a day as they can. Thinking of our poorly people and those struggling with life.Take care folks.13

Pleased to hear your happy news about your DD Camelot!

Morning folks.Great news Camelot - 🎉 I can see hat buying in your future. 😄
Nmlc - I hope that your back is sorted out.Hester - you're stocked up now, perhaps it'll see you through Christmas.Bella - my thoughts to you, it doesn't seem a year since your beloved Mum died. 🌺
Csarina - my thoughts to you too. 🌺
Scarlet - 😂 I can barely look at them, horrible things. As for MC I used to park at the outside part of the multi- storey and walk across to M&S, it was easier than looking for a space there.
Dp1 - how's your daughter?
Yesterday was a day of cutting up cardboard to fit it into the recycling bag which I'll take away today. The highlight was a telephone call from the wood burner supplier, he's coming on tomorrow to fit my new one. 😃 That's good timing as I'm going down to Glasgow then for a couple of days so I'll miss the upheaval. The chap up the hill is going to help with the installation and I've donated the current stove to him.I got cracked the techie thing for a neighbour which pleased me, it's been a while since I had techie stuff to do.The announcement about new guidance from the Scottish government is disheartening (even if expected) news. My Glasgow trip is to meet with friends to see a short panto at a venue in the west end. This place does a weekly 'pie, pint and a play', only an hour long with the annual panto a definite highlight. Now we're not sure about it going ahead. The real problem is that the guidance isn't law! What a blooming mess.My thoughts are drifting over our missing, the poorlies and those who are chasing their tails. Happy Wednesday to all.13 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. It feels very mild this morning but too dark to see what's happening out there.
Thoughts are with CSARINA today. It's hard to believe it's been 6 years. Similarly BELLA, the last year seems to have flown by. CAMELOT good news re your DD and how romantic a proposal! NAN glad to have you back with us but sorry you have been unwell. DP1 my fingers are still crossed for your DD.
I had a lovely lazy coffee morning and lunch with df yesterday. Slightly busier than normal but no rowdies thank goodness (apart from a crying baby!) We both succumbed to gammon, egg and chips. I had no sooner got home than the 2 youngest DGDs appeared on my doorstep to collect some stuff they had left here and they ended up staying for tea (after ringing DD to check it was ok) their chatty company cheers me up.
I am venturing into town this morning to hopefully buy the last few bits I need. I have a small list and a plan of attack. Although with a serious lack of shops these days town gets nowhere near as busy as it used to in the good old days. Such a shame to watch its decline. But that seems to be a similar story in other towns.
There will be jobs awaiting my return if I cba - I probably won't be but there is always tomorrow! Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, poorly loved ones, sad or lonely. Take care one and all and stay safe xx

Morning everyone,
We went to see West S!de Story last night. I enjoyed the dancing (think SCD on steroids) and knew most of the songs. Think DH struggled from about 30 mins in! Great production value and the girl playing Maria was amazing.
Tree has been trimmed. DH managed to smash a large glass bauble – I handed it to him and he slow-mo juggled it until it fell on the wooden floor and smashed. I then dropped a glass reindeer onto the granite hearth and snapped off an antler – karma – DH managed to glue that one luckily.
Csarina – thinking of you today x
Dp1 – good luck to DD for her PCR being negative
Taff – hope you get your car back today, and great news about the architect
Nanny – good to see you back and I hope DD is doing okay
Camelot – lovely news!
DS2’s work uniform to go on a hot wash shortly and I have bedding to iron this evening. Will also treat myself to a face mask. Dinner will be chilli con carne.
Hope you all have a good day.

Morning everyone
Just a quickie as I'm going back to work this morning. Didn't go in yesterday as my chest was so uncomfortable - managed to get a doctor's appointment and she gave me steroids and antibiotics for a chest infection. After the first couple of doses of steroids I started to feel a little better. Didn't sleep well at all though so still tired.
Florenceem - a placement in south Africa sounds very exciting!
A nice young man DD found on Facebook re-felted my shed roof in the afternoon and pushed it upright again. He's coming back this morning to fix new hinges to the doors. He also fixed the cat flap for me - biggest cat barges out of it so fast the screws kept coming out. I sent him across the road to a neighbour also wanting a shed repaired.
Some men from the council also arrived and stacked all my broken fence panels into a pile like a big jenga game - I thought they were taking them away but perhaps they can be re-used. At least they're not banging against the side of my house now.
Better go - have good days x11 -
Morning all
Dry here and quite mild. I have a days holiday today (and day off tomorrow) so a nice couple of days, I had three days holiday to use up before we break for xmas next Wednesay but today is the only day I could get off so they will have to carry it over to next year for me.

I have a few more fresh bits to buy for my inlaws hamper, I like to get them some cheese and pate etc so will try and get thise tomorrow then I am done present wise. I need to have a big clean through as everyone is coming here for Christmas (covid willing) and Ive got to take my mum for a big food shop and then I am done ! there is so much to do this time of year I feel like I am chasing my tail !
