I haven’t sold on eBay for a while and didn’t realise there were new rules regarding money being held et cetera. I have sold a bike which needs to be picked up by courier and I’m wondering how I prove to  eBay that the item has been picked up. It is saying that I need a QR code. Will the courier company provide me with this. Thanks for any help

If you are arranging the courier yourself then you will have full tracking. If you are allowing buyer to collect then I would re think as the QR code is issued to the buyer and you need to either scan that code or see and confirm the 6 digit code before you release the item, unless buyer can arrange for their courier to do that you will not be covered on managed payments.

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately the courier has been arranged by the buyer who has been pretty poor at communicating. That’s a lesson learned 😅 Will ask him for the code and fingers crossed he forwards it to me. Thanks again

If you don’t get the code and buyer turns out to be a scammer (and not all buyers are a problem but on here we tend to look on the worse case scenario) then you stand to lose your money. Even without any proof of collection and no scan of the QR code your money is going to be very slow to be released.

No code, no collection! Even if the courier turns up, then don't even think about handing over the bike until you have the code successfully entered!
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

As others have warned, this has potential scam written all over it. Your buyer may well be honest but don't take any risks.

Please make sure that you follow the QR code rules to the letter.

Do not allow the buyer or the courier to distract or bully you in any way. Better to lose the sale than lose the bike.

Don't let the courier, who could be a pal of the buyer, say 'I'll just get the bike loaded up and then we can do the QR code' or similar words.

Can you have one or more other people there to help you in case the courier gets unpleasant? Unlikely but entirely possible.

    Good luck.

PS: I changed the word to bully as Bull**** isn't allowed.
A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".

Agree with Pinkshoes here, message the buyer and tell them that via eBay messaging.
As you are doing what you should to comply with eBay rules, if buyer leaves negative feedback then push eBay to remove it, but again message buyer now to tell him this so there can be no confusion.
It's not your issue if buyer ignores your messages.
May you find your sister soon Helli.

Just got a copy of his email with the QR code and 6 digit number so that’s a relief. It’s actually put me off selling expensive items on EBay
