Hi everyone,
ive got a little problem. I used to have an account with barclays for two years. Unfortunately in january this year i had leave the country and when i came back in june i found that my account with barclays was overdraft for 70 odd pounds for a long time and because of that Barclays decided to shut my account. I went to the bank to find out what was the reason of the overdraft however i couldnt be given the answer as they first wanted me to pay back the 70 pounds before making any enquiries (as i was told that the overdraft is over 3 month old and all the data is stored on the fiches, if one wants to obtain the data from before 3 months they have to pay 10 pounds upon having a clear account). I decided that it all did not make sense as i couldnt find out why barclays charged me that amount of money. A few months passed and one day I received a phone call (without any prior notice) from 1st Credit when i was informed that the debt has been sold to the company. I asked for proof and so i was sent a letter from the company showing my debt. I wrote a letter to 1st credit telling them that the debt that has been sold to them has been caused due to overdraft charges which were unlawful (at the same time i decided to write a letter to barclays asking them how much money the bank charged me for overdrafts for the last 6 years and asking for the money bank - this case remains unresolved as barclays has not yet responded). 1st Credit did not take any notice and today i received another letter of them telling it is the final warning and within a few days there will be an individual at my door trying to get the debt. Do you have any ideas of what else I can do? Has anyone of you been in the same situation? I know that 70 pounds is not a lot but it is the principle. Please, can you share ur opinions. Thanks a lot. Mike
