E.on fix ending - new E.on contract ok?

My dual fuel fix with E.on expires in 2 weeks.  They suggest I go over to a new plan "E.on EnergyPlan".  (Obviously it's alot more expensive but thats the market!).
My question is about how or if this new deal is linked to the Ofgem price cap.  I've read somewhere that wholly renewable electricity (which this tariff is) does not have to be governed by the price cap. I've asked the company but they dont know or wont say! Any thoughts?
Thanks

    Welcome to the forum.
Just do nothing and you'll rolled on to the capped tariff.
If you're not sure, obtain the kWh rates and the daily charge and do the sums yourself.

As Gerry says, you need to see what you'll get rolled over onto, probably the SVG tariff as they aren't allowed to push you directly onto a fixed tariff without your permission.

Most energy companies aren't offering the SVG nowadays as they tend to be the cheapest because they are capped. They are pushing fixed deals which can be significantly more expensive. If you do nothing you'll go onto the SVG

Do your own sums rather than just accepting what they are offering.

"EON EnergyPlan" is EON's standard variable tariff. Details here.
The price cap applies to the standard variable tariff offered by almost every energy company (exceptions below) and only to that tariff. any other tariff they might offer, whether fixed or variable, is not subject to the cap.
Three named companies offer 100% renewable energy and have been exempted from the cap. These are:
    • Good Energy
    • Green energy UK
    • Ecotricity
