Has anyone recently sold anything on eBay using the new payment system?

I've sold a few stuff from £100- 1000 without issue. Normally get paid a few days once I've uploaded the tracking number.

Sold a high-value item on eBay (£2500) and the payment is on hold. I've been told that it could take up to 30 days to get the funds. To speed it up I would need to upload the tracking number and get the buyer to leave a positive feedback

The buyer received the item today and left me good feedback. Contacted eBay again, and still, I'll have to wait 30 days to get the funds!

Their excuse is the value of the item is too high.

How can this be legal? I've spoken to them and they're saying to read the terms and conditions.

I've read it and it doesn't say for certain how much the item needs to be before it's held. It just says for "high-value" items the funds might be held for 30 days. It doesn't specify what value is seen as high value. I've sold high-value items in the past few weeks and funds were released without issue.

They're really bad since they moved to managed payment.

If only I knew I wouldn't have posted the item at all. Now the buyer has 30 days to demo the item and he can just change his mind before the 30 days and return the item. Legal action would take more than 30 days to resolve.

Unfortunately, eBay is a monopoly and they can do what they want with people hard-earned cash.

eBay Money Back Guarantee allows a purchaser to dispute the transaction within 30 days. Most likely to avoid being defrauded Ebay are withholding your funds instead.  The value of the transaction is well outside your normal level. Which has most likely triggered the hold.

The new system really just duplicates the old system but pushes all the fees to ebay rather than sharing with paypal , however under the old pre managed system your funds would have been held as well.

It is an anti fraud measure and unfortunately you will just have to wait it out, although another phone call in a week might not come amiss.

I understand. But I friend of mine sold an item that was nearly £4000 and he got his money within 3 days. I don't understand how they decide what account to target. Before all this managed payment, I've sold items with a value much higher and was paid instantly. I would like to know what they deem as "high value". I've recently sold something worth just under £1000 and was paid instantly without any issue.

Might be concern over the buyer not you.
