Are you still paying the same price per kWh and standing charge per day or have they been mysteriously increased?

What is it about DD payments and tariffs that confuses so many people? The former is just money put into a ‘piggy bank’ from which charges for energy used are deducted. If consumers want to avoid massive DD hikes then, firstly, they need to ensure that they provide their supplier with frequent actual meter readings. Secondly, choose a supplier like Octopus which allows consumers to adjust the monthly DD payment online. For example, I estimate that my credit balance is slightly above where it should be due to household changes that we have introduced. This month my DD payment is set at £1.0

@colingibbons1, I have the same with EDF, only paying for what I have used.
@viva1 with EDF, as it is paid by DD, this payment method still allows access to all the DD tariffs.
