Sorry if i am being silly and it is something to do with pension, but I want to know if I am being underpaid (see the payslip attached).
I think the total pay should be 62,337/12=5194?

13 pay periods in 1 yr? You are on 4780/mth. One year you will total 4780 * 13 = 62140. Next year you will only capture 11 pay packets in the year for a total of 52580
Could happen if your payday is something like "1st Friday of the month", which could be April 7th, and your pay period runs April 6th to April 5th.
Don't you know how much you're supposed to earn per year?1 -
Your original post seems to be questioning if the top line is being underpaid but then your second post is trying to compare the net pay.
Which is it you think is wrong?

According to the payslip they appear to be relief at source contributions so there will be £44.16 being added to the pension fund.1 -
Are you paid every four weeks? Some companies do this, so you will receive 13 pay checks (52/4). And one month you get paid twice. Sort of fits your numbers (62,337 / 4779.84 = 13.04). But still leaves you £199.21 short....1

You'd have to look at all 4 payslips from your employment. From your pension contributions to date, you appear to have been employed for 4 months (assuming each pay period in the tax year = one calendar month).....(706.56/4=176.64), but the gross pay of 19551.93 for 4 months does not sum to £62337 for 12 months. You might need to ask your payroll dept to explain why your gross salary per month is £4779.84 but your annual salary appears to be £62337 (assuming £62337 is your actual salary and not a notional figure used internally for some purpose)....there could be many reasons for this which don't necessarily mean you are being underpaid.1

Thanks for the reponses.I have been told the following:A nnua l S a la ry divided by 313, x 6, round up to nea res t penny = 1 week s s a la ry a nd

Why can I not divide my four weekly paid annual salary by 13 as we get paid 13 times per year?A : The reason it is not a straightforward divided by 13 is that 13 pay periods of 28 days is only 364 days and therefore not a full calendar year. Also, with the lunar (4 weekly) calendar, approximately every 23 years you will have a fourteenth payday in a tax year and in this year we apply the same formula above, we would not divide your annual salary by 14 and pay you less each period.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Pensions, Annuities & Retirement Planning, Loans
