Help with holiday insurance

Hi. We have flights booked for January 2022 to the USA. I took insurance out for my family (6 of us). I called insurers today to say I am waiting for diagnosis as I have been referred by my dr. to the hospital to see a specialist about a bowel problem. I was told my insurance is now invalid. I have spent the afternoon trying to find a company that will insure while diagnosis is still unclear. The problem I have is the waiting list. The chances of me being diagnosed before we fly is unlikely. We can change our flight with virgin up to 21 days before we fly however I just need advice or a number of insures who will cover me. Thankyou.

When did you buy the insurance and when did you have symptoms of the illness?
Assuming symptoms started after the insurance was purchased then they cannot invalidate the insurance... if you "forgot" to mention the symptoms and they precede the insurance then they can. Insurers dont like undiagnosed issues so you will struggle.1 -
Hi, thanks. Unfortunately i had reported to the dr I was having diarrhoea. After several weeks I got back in touch and samples were sent for tests. To be honest at the time I thought nothing of it. I took the insurance out probably a couple of weeks AFTER this all flared up. I have a couple of pre existing conditions that I declared. I guess I did not even register that this problem would still be going on and be heading down the route of a referral.0

It is pretty standard that an insurance company will not provide medical cover when there is an undiagnosed issue as they cannot assess the risk to set a premium nor can they assess of any condition arising is connected to the undiagnosed condition.
The policy usually states you must notify of them any changes and they will advise if they can continue to cover you
When that happened with my husband the insurance company said they would only provide accident cover for any medical problem. Not a suitable position for travelling to US.
Fortunately, they accepted our GP's explanation of what test was awaited and agreed to insure him for an additional premium of £50.
With the current waiting lists I think a lot of people are going to be caught with this.
