O/S Daily Monday 11 October 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now getting light, dry at the moment.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Lunch yesterday was roast chicken, all the extras with it, was very tasty. Some L'Os, so they will become part of another meal.
Yesterday was quite a chilled day so that was nice, but back to work today - likely to be manic again, Mondays tend to be a busy day.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all
Brrr cold here this morning I must sort out the heating to come on for an hour in the mornings its hard getting up while its so cold.
DD and I did a lot of cooking yesterday for the week, I made a roast for two days will have the second one tonight, a pork casserole for Tuesday, and some soup for one night, dd made a cottage pie and a veggi version and two cauli and broccoli cheese, so it should do us for dinners all this week, it will be so nice not to have to worry about it when I get in, this way I can just shove it in the oven and not have to think about it.
I have also changed my Tamoxifen from the evening to the morning, I have been having terrible hot flushes, Saturday night iI had 10 while in bed and thats not helping me sleep at all, this way im hoping that the tablet will have worn off before bed.
So off to work for me today i will finish around lunch time - will see how i feel, dinner is a roast from yesterday so no effort there, so I can just take the dogs to the park and then come home for a rest if needs be.
Have good days all and take care xxx9 -
Morning folks. It's still dark outside but seems dry. Yesterday I did a washing load and got it almost dry outside. The wind was very brisk which helped until light rain arrived in late afternoon. I got it all in and on the clothes horse. Not much happened yesterday. The new printer is still in the car. I got distracted by doing some long-needed cleaning of awkward things. I ordered a pair of bed socks after reading about how they aid better sleeping - who knows? My sleep is better than last month though I still wake up every hour or so for very short periods.Yesterday I ate far too much bread. ☹️ Did really enjoy it. 😊Today I'm expecting the cleaner and the gardener, not really sure about either. Maybe the weather will be too bad for the gardener and I think the cleaner has her children at home this week. I'll wait to be surprised / disappointed.Reading about the antics of grandchildren does make me smile and often laugh too. I miss hearing about Scamp from Tru, hope he's doing OK.
For now I wish everyone a very happy Monday.9 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Hope it's not such a Manic Monday for you.
Brr the temp has dropped with a vengeance overnight. The heating is on for a bit to take the chill off. Even though a dry and sunny day is forecast it's not set to rise above 14 deg all day.
Usual boring jobs await if I cba. I'm getting too good at putting stuff off, I must try harder! A no cooking day with leftovers from yesterday to warm up for dinner tonight. Lunch will be the usual soup with a chicken salad bagel or wrap. At some point I must compile a list and book a sm delivery for nearer the w/e. The freezers and cupboards are still rammed so it will just be the usual fridge and household stuff.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies and poorly loved ones. Special hugs for NELS and MARIE. It would be lovely to have them back with us. I worry about AOD who we haven't heard from in months. POPPY I hope you continue to feel a bit better. Take care one and all and stay safe xx

Morning all,
Woken up just, but still very bleary eyed. Definitely does feel cooler this morning, feels like hot chocolate and crumpet time of year.
Just the usual Monday here, I need to give the home a good tidying up, since DH has been at home all my usual routines have gone out the window and it shows, so I am back to fly lady today.
Take care all.

Morning all, thought I would say hi as I try to get back into using forum again as once did long ago.
I am still in bed - takes me usually about two hours after taking pain meds to get up (although do bathroom trip and usually open curtains but eyes were to sore when I went earlier and still dark. so no idea what it's like outside yet, supposed to be dry but overcast all day with max temp of 15.
The dogs just keep moving under the bedcovers then out again - they have adapted to my ways so well that on odd days I get up earlier they stay in bed until usual up time.
Last night I prepped the last of the Rhubarb and apples from the garden and put them in slow cooker and I plan to go and gather the raspberries that have appeared at last but not that many. I will throw them in as well. Sadly, this year grew nothing that was not already growing - fruit bushes and trees and Rhubarb so garden needs a complete clearing - have someone who does the grass and cuts the hedges in front and side garden as back garden usually mine. So going to ask him as things winding down now if he would be willing to come and help me clear back garden so it's ready for me hopefully to grow my veg next year as certainly think going to need home grown more than ever as our income will go down again with me going onto my pension (he already is on his).
Hopefully will strip bed later so it can be aired as we have booked to take the dogs to a secure field, just a local one, smaller than most but it does have things for them to play on but only 5 mins approx. from home which means not using much energy to get there. Even OH now enjoys these walks and for me they are perfect as dogs can run free and if I am to achy/fatigued I can sit in car but walking on fields always makes me feel better at the time (just pay for it later) - used to be a rambler from childhood and miss those long tramps and grass beneath my feet so much.
Just ordered some new head torches that should be here today (old ones not working to well) as this field has no lights and as surrounded by farms and a motorway (hidden by trees, hedges) and cannot always get bookings during day so they will insure we don't stand on anything we shouldn't as not all users clean up after their dogs sadly. Dogs also will have lights on so we can see them, they are happy enough using their noses.
Sorry rambled on - will catch up on mail and then see about getting up. Have a good day everyone.Need to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch

Good morning
Chilly and dry here this morning.
Started walking again, did 18 miles over the weekend but paid for it with a painful hip yesterday. Have put a heat pad on it over night and it feels a bit better today.
Also painted the old shed yesterday and will need to give it another coat today.
Going to go shopping with my Mother first and have some lunch out.
Have a good day x8 -

Morning all.
Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need .
Cold here this morning hopefully it will warm up later, curtain shortening this morning, no doubt there will be cross words when Steve starts telling me I'm doing it all wrong!
Have a good day everyone.

Hi everyone,
Redruby, I hope you have a less tiring week. Good idea on the meals, I made a few yesterday, including a cottage pie and a veggie version like your DD.
Rip-off Britain is on the TV talking about phone number spoofing, it's horrific how many scumbags there are around defrauding people of thousands of pounds.
Laura and Esben will be arriving after lunch for a couple of days so I need to toddlerise the house - mainly putting all my scissors, pins and rotary cutters out of reach of little fingers. They are so tempting! They will also be bringing Ziggy so I need to cover the pale blue settee just in case.
Have a good day everyone.8
