Seller cancelled order, then delivered anyway, now dragging heels on collection and refund

I ordered some bedside tables from an online company on a Tuesday and they took the money from my credit card that day, but the day after I ordered they emailed me to say they didn't have any stock, didn't know when it would come in and were cancelling my order. On the Thursday I found an alternative from another website, ordered and these items were delivered on the Friday. Then on the following Monday the original order turned up. I contacted the first company to say why have these arrived, I should have been refunded, but they are now dragging their heels on collecting the two frankly massive boxes and returning my money. They have claimed the supplier of the bedside tables is having logistical issues and collection is likely to take a long time. They offered me an unspecified 'discount' on the tables if I would just keep them instead, but I don't have the room and don't want the hassle of having to try to sell them on when they should never have been delivered. Absolutely no work on a refund, even though I have said that really given the circumstances they ought to be refunding me now, as this was their error, not wait until the boxes have been collected, especially if the delay is at their end.
Another week has now gone by and the flipping things are still blocking up my hallway and the company are being very slow to reply to my requests for an update. What should I do? I know I can reach out to my credit card company, but I keep hoping the company are going to fix their mistake before I have to do that, but now I'm losing faith.
Any words of wisdom would be very gratefully received.

Shortage of HGV drivers is why collections are taking longer .Are they waiting for return to refund or is it just one week .0

They are waiting for return before they will refund, even though they have fully admitted that it was their fault and they shouldn't have been sent out.
They haven't booked in a collection as yet, they said they are speaking to multiple couriers to see who can collect them - the parcels were delivered by DHL and I have just been on the DHL website and could book for collection tomorrow so although I appreciate that HGV drivers are in short supply and may cause delays, I don't understand why they couldn't at least make a booking, even if it were a few days before the items were collected. And while they resolve the courier situation I don't think that they ought to be holding my money hostage.
I've just raised the transaction with my credit card company and will see what they say.0
