Hi, I’m currently employed & work part time., also claim universal credit due to being single & having 4 young children (ages 8 and under)
im looking to go self employed, I’m just curious. Would I be affected by the minimum floor income?

I would only be working part time (maybe less hours in self employment than employed, due to childcare issues)
I know that in the first 12 months I would be exempt from the minimum floor income. But what about after that?

I have read that you are still exempt if caring for someone, does this mean dependant children?
Many thanks

If your primary activity is as an employed person then your self employment activity is not subject to the MIF.
You will have to report your self employment income and expenditure every month in order for your monthly UC payment to be processed.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0 -
I will be looking to leave employment & become self employed0

The person you care for must claim a qualifying disability benefit..PIP/DLA or AA.For dependant children and minimum income floor not applying then it will depend on the age of your youngest child.0

If self employed you will be subject to the MIF after 12 months unless you are not in the all work requirements group which you will be unless you meet the definition of carer as explained by poppy or your youngest child is under 3.
