Defaulted on bank loan

Hi, first time poster here. I took out a 10k unsecured loan in 2017. Started to struggle with the repayments halfway through and ended up defaulting on the loan with about 5k balance left. This official default date was Feb 2019. At that same time I had a credit card with around 90% of the £2250 limit utilised.
My question is, if the bank could see I was struggling with my loan and I had defaulted on this, should they have ideally defaulted my credit card at the same time? Am I likely to be able to make a case to them or the ombudsman that they could see I was in difficulty and maybe should have had a responsibility to consolidate both my debts as 2 years down the line I'm still around 90% utilisation on that card.

Many thanks in advance for any I do :)

No, defaulting one account doesn't mean the other should (or can) be defaulted.  They also have no responsibility (nor are they likely to be willing) to consolidate your debts.
  • The ICO guidance is that you should be defaulted after 3-6 missed contractual payments, if you met the minimum payments you didn't default. In hindsight you should have defaulted on both at the same time. Have you spoken to the lender about a financial hardship case where they may freeze interest/charges etc
