Hi I have had a accident afew month's back and I'm struggling with the pain in my lower back and neck.. To help out I am taking mild regular massages from a massage therapist. I would like to know if I can claim the expenses back of receiving massages through personal injury claim? I would appreciate any help. Thank you

I would expect that a certified medical therapist providing massage as part of physiotherapy would be acceptable. If it's just someone who's normally just doing something like aroma therapy massage it might not be considered for a claim. But the only way to know for sure is to ask and be able to provide appropriate receipts.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. What did your doctor say? What treatment did your gp suggest?0

Just because you had an accident doesn't mean anyone is liable. Or that it has anything to do with employment. You have started three threads in recent days about claiming money for a variety of reasons. Anyone can make a claim of something. That doesn't mean that someone else will believe it or pay for it.1

Hi my gp has prescribed me two different pain killer tablets and referred me to physiotherapy, I don't have anything to worry about with my claims being believed or not as I do have strong evidence in all case's, all I was wanting to know is if I could claim back the payments that I have been making on my massages which was taken only due to the pain I'm currently in. The accident I was involved in was at no fault of my own liability has been accepted by 3rd party.0

You will struggle to claim the cost unless the treatment was prescribed / recommended by a doctor and not easily and quickly available on the NHS.Usman90 said:Hi my gp has prescribed me two different pain killer tablets and referred me to physiotherapy, I don't have anything to worry about with my claims being believed or not as I do have strong evidence in all case's, all I was wanting to know is if I could claim back the payments that I have been making on my massages which was taken only due to the pain I'm currently in. Even assuming the other party has either been held liable or admitted liability for your injury, they will still only pay what is reasonably necessary. They would not be required to pay for "alternative" treatments you have chosen yourself without proper medical advice.0 -
Why are you asking on a public forum on employment rights rather than from your representatives in your claim?Usman90 said:Hi my gp has prescribed me two different pain killer tablets and referred me to physiotherapy, I don't have anything to worry about with my claims being believed or not as I do have strong evidence in all case's, all I was wanting to know is if I could claim back the payments that I have been making on my massages which was taken only due to the pain I'm currently in. Ultimately you can attempt to claim whatever you want but unless 1) its been recommended by a medical professional and 2) its being delivered by an appropriately certified sports/injury masseuse and not just your local thai massage parlour then you are highly unlikely to be successful.
It is not that uncommon for claims to be settled on a "global offer basis" where you claim £20 or prescriptions, £50 for taxis, £10 for phone calls, £300 for massage, £3,000 for pain, suffering and loss of amenities or whatever and the third party makes a global offer of £2,750 so there is no breakdown and no way of knowing what if any they have attributed to any particular head of claim.0
