Universal credit

Been temping for a few mths and sometimes earn more money than others.  Only had 11 quid uc last month. This month my assessment period ended before i got my monthly pay as i get paid last friday of every month. so my uc is maximum.  Straight away i get my statement and they demand a phonecall interview.  Next month 2 mths pay in same month... My contractual day worked in my favour this month... End of next assessment period i wont get any uc as there will be too much earnings.

I'm not clear if you are asking a question or just making a comment..
If you want to, when two monthly payments fall into one UC assessment period, you can ask them to reallocate one of the payments to the 'correct' month.

It is in the correct assessment period can they make me move it to the assessment period that ended 3 days before the payment contracted day.  I cant help that their stupid system doesnt fit.. They coukd make me do it to avoid paying me.  But assessment period ended Wed and i was paid on my contractual day on the Friday.  I benefit from this this month i dont care about next month i realise i wont get any uc regardless next month... It will only benefit them...

It looks like to them i didnt earn money last month as in the prev month i was paid real early in the month... The last fri in june was 25th...within my first assessment period.  Then as July is a long month the last friday payday was the 30th... I went 35 days no pay... Temping... So it missed my assessment period.  Aug pay will be only just one within this next assessment period... So 2 pmts in one month.  Do i have to legally have it moved... And as im temping i dont even know if i will have work for the whole month.  I literally live from one week to the next at the moment..  The company are restructuring.  So iim grateful for any money... With fear of having none... Soon.  Maybe self centred but its hard times at the moment and its hard getting work at 59 yrs of age.

Depending on when you're paid your UC will vary. Sometimes you'll receive 2 earnings during your AP and sometimes no earnings at all, as you've already found out. It's the way UC works. As advised, if 2 earnings are received during 1 AP then you can ask them to relocate it to the next AP but you don't have to do this.

At the moment you can leave it as it is if you wish to. In theory UC software is supposed to being amended to automatically detect this and make the necessary corrections (but I don't know when this will happen - or indeed if it will work).

You may end up with more UC as it is. Those who can lose out are people who have a Work Allowance included in the calculation of the earnings deduction.

Just to clarify for anybody reading this thread - this only applies to those who are paid monthly and is only an issue for those who normal pay date is close the end/beginning of their UC assessment period.

People who are paid four weekly will have UC periods in which 2 payments - these are not open to adjustment.

Why is this not applied to 4 weekly payments?

Because it wouldn't work with four weekly payments. If you ( correctly ) have 2 payments fall in one assessment period because you are paid four weekly then moving it the next assessment period would just mean you had two in the next assessment period instead. It has to happen that 2 paydays fall in one assessment period once a year as there are 13 paydays and 12 assessment periods. You get paid slightly more UC in the other 11 months and less or no Uc in the one where two pay days fall.
