What am I Entitled to?

My husband is in his 70s and is on end of life care at our home. I am still employed part time by a well known supermarket but due to the circumstances  i am not working due to caring for my husband my ssp has run out so all i get now is carers allowance and my husband gets his pension. Can we claim for anything else? Thank you.

You may be eligible for Universal Credit.
Lost my soulmate so life is empty.

I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

Whether you're entitled to UC will depend on your circumstances. The carers allowance and your partners state pension will be deducted in full from any UC entitlement. When you applied, where you working? Have you used a benefits calculator to check entitlement.

Just to check: are you under state pension age? I'm assuming so but it's just to check.

Also, does your husband get Attendance Allowance, DLA or PIP?

I was going to suggest attendance allowance if he’s not already applied.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

I've just realised that her husband must be getting one of AA, DLA or PIP as Carers Allowance is in payment.
  • If you've been paying national insurance in past couple of relevant years, your SSP has run out and you're under state pension age then it would be worth applying for New Style ESA. https://www.gov.uk/how-to-claim-new-style-esa . It's not affected by your husband's pension.

Although the OP is claiming Carers allowance and this is classed as an overlapping benefit, see link.https://www.turn2us.org.uk/Jargon-buster/Overlapping-Benefit-Rule

There is no suggestion by OP that they themselves have a health problem limiting their ability to work in which case they are not eligible for new style ESA.
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.
