Recieved ESA50 from Maximus, 10 days later...

Told in a very unexpected phone call they have enough info already and have sent my file back to DWP. I received the ESA50 about 10 days ago, which was about three months after I posted a letter to DWP together with some additional sheets of evidence requesting a supersession on the grounds my health (In my view) had deteriorated.
So I am expecting some letters through the post over the next week or two. Problem is that everything I've read on the ESA50 over many years on various websites and forums is that ESA rule no.1 is that if you receive one of these forms you have to fill it in and send it off - no ifs no buts. Has this happened to anyone else?
I should add I was already in WRAG of ESA for a number of years.

Are you saying the Health Assessment advisory Service have returned your file to DWP but then you received a ESA50 form in the post? I don't understand how they can return a file to DWP before you receive any forms. When you requested the suppersession was this to DWP?0

Requested a supersession to DWP due to health worsening in March.
Heard nothing until about 10 days ago when an ESA50 form arrived, to be filled in by mid-July.
10 days after the form arrived and before i've even started filling in the ESA50 a phone call on Friday saying my file returned back to DWP. I forgot to ask whether I still needed to fill in form. I will fill it in anyway just in case nothing happens and no letters arrive telling me what is going on. Looking back now I just thought it was odd.0 -
I would speak to DWP to ask what exactly was returned to them and tell them exactly what's happened.

A phone call to Maximus / HAAS would be just as easy in the first instance as they will be the ones either with the file or a record it has been returned.

Agreed but because the ESA50 form has been sent out OP will also need to ring DWP.

Thank you Poppy and Robbie. Have not got any letters yet, I will ring them in a few days if not heard anything.
In the meantime I am going to start filling in the ESA50 just in case. I have noticed the paper form they have sent me is the 05/2018 version, the latest version is 01/2021, is this a problem or does it not matter?0 -
It will only take a few minutes to phone HAAS (Maximus). Ask them to confirm what you were told the other day. It's unlikely the call would have been made in error. It doesn't stop you from completing the ESA50 but if the file has been returned to the DWP then it would be pointless sending the ESA50 to HAAS.Edit: to add. It doesn't matter about the version of the ESA50 you have been sent. The current one appears more streamlined but they both essentially ask the same questions.
