Cancelling DLA

Hi
Just wondering If anybody could help me. I have been in receipt of DLA (HRC, LRM) for my son. He was awarded this until Jan 2022. He has just turned 16 in January and has been invited to apply for a PIP. I rang the dla in Jan to advise them that he did not wish to claim a pip and was advised to write to dla to have his claim cancelled.
I did this and still received the paperwork inviting him to apply for the pip. As I knew we would not be doing this I did not respond.
He then received a letter on the 23rd Mar from dla saying they were concerned that he no longer wants to claim this benefit as he was awarded this until 2022.
I then rang them and they said he needed to write to them again and then they would consider ending his entitlement. We have done this but not heard back.
Has anybody else had an issue cancelling their claim?
Thank you in advance ☺

Usually a DLA claim would continue providing you applied for PIP and returned the forms before the deadline. If he doesn't apply then the DLA would just end and payment won't continue until 2022.

Why would you want to not go onto Pip, it replaces DLA. Until you fill in forms and get a assessment you would still be paid DLA. That's a lot of money you would not be receiving. Pip is not means tested for other benefits.1
