O/S Daily Wednesday 31 March 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Gers - thinking of you and your mum x
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was herby chicken, rice and pasta in creamy tomato sauce. Tonight will be clearing up LO's - fridge is packed with different bits that need clearing up.
Yesterday work was steady, and my last working day until after the Easter Break, I have to say just want the next few weeks to be over and know where we are and then can plan and move forward, there won't be any word work wise this side of Easter, so it'll be into next week.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Thanks for the start nmlc, your work are certainly keeping you hanging on.
Hugs to you Gers, hope you find time for 5 mins to gather yourself.
Hope your hands are getting better Nelski, and your legs dumpling.
Dry again this morning, the bedding was dry yesterday and I put another load out when I got home at 5 as it was very breezy and it half dried in an hour or so. I think it's to drizzle later today and then it looks like 2 days of sunshine, hurray!
The house got a good airing yesterday and I just lit the fire in the evening, the heating is having a rest!
Another busy day in store, one of my colleagues is on long term sick so plenty to do and not enough hours but at least the time passes very quickly. Just today and tomorrow then 2 weeks off.
Hope you can all have a decent Wednesday, take care. XX14 -
Morning all. Will be dropping off OH in a bit..All I can say is good job he's only doing 4 days this week. The water board are turning up today apparently, only 5 days late, and again,I failed to ask what they were doing...I'll ask them when they turn up after. There'sone lot of washing on the magic cupboard is doing it's thing and I reckon I can squeeze in another wash. It's been so warm the last couple of days, when I went to fetch OH yesterday it was 22 degrees! There were people in shorts and strappy tops walking about. Mind you, OH sais it might snow at the weekend...And my wedge pillow turned up yesterday but needs a day or two to replump according to the bumph that came with it...Ruby, how scary! Ilike to think I'd be big and brave and fighty but in reality I'd be like a custard pudding and run away. Good for you for phoning the police and enlisting the help of the other dog walker. It's not going to be long before people go out in packs. Hope everyone who has ouchies has less today. stay strong with the force and stuff, and spank your day into submission.Shampoo? No thanks, I'll have real poo...14

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Another beautiful day in store and then we are back downhill again. I never got on here yesterday so just been having a catch up. GERS so pleased DM had a better day. DUMPLING sorry to read your legs are playing up again. Hope the DN duly arrived and can do something to help. RUBY your drama at the beach must have been so scary. There are so many cases of dog theft just now you can't be too careful.
DD asked me if she could drop youngest DGD off yesterday as she had to take middle one down to the dance studio to practice for a zoom audition she has today .At the time I was full of good intentions thinking about tackling the garden, drive etc and when she arrived and she said she would help me! She's 10 and tiny for her age but she worked like a trojan bless her. She was scrubbing away at all the moss on the drive with the deck brush, followed by much sweeping. It looked so much better. Then we resumed dismantling the love seat round the back and it wasn't long before all the pieces were piled up for the tip. She is coming back this morning when they go for the zoom audition and we plan on tackling all the weeds in the front garden and digging the borders over. She is being such a big help I have promised her a wage when we have finished!
I managed an hour in the warm sunshine with my book yesterday when DGD left and hope to do the same today, before the temps tumble tomorrow. And I heard the S word mentioned yesterday for high ground in the north over Easter. Nooo!
Have a good day folks if you can and enjoy the sunshine if you have it. ((HUGS)) for all in need of them and take care xx

Morning all well its going to be a scorcher here today and then down hill all the way at the weekend this is due to the fact that we were going to do mums garden and have ordered a skip so i shall apologise now 3 more viewings booked for Saturday . I have all the paperwork for the solicitor to do the probate so that needs to be dropped off other than that just need to tidy round and wipe the outside pvc as its a bit dusty but i will wait till the binmen have been.
Dumpling I hope the DN managed to make your legs comfortable
Ruby yikes I would have been a wreck mind you Miss Dolly wouldn't be the easiest to catch she doesn't like men or other dogs so becomes a snarling dervish putting most people off walking near us except the few dogs she tolerates
Gers I am thinking of you and mum as always
Nelski Hope you are doing ok hopefully this warm spell has helped the joints a bit
Right better get on tea to be drunk and so on . Have a great day enjoy the sun and stay safe xxSlava Ukraini13 -
Good morning, thanks nmlc, awful the way your employers are treating you all.
Ruby what an awful experience, thank goodness for that other dog walker. Hugs to Nelski, Gers and her DM, Dumpling and her DS.
Camelot you sound as if the Easter holiday will be much needed by the time you finish. _taff good luck at organising the water people, seems to be electricity people digging the roads up here. TA what a wonderful little helper that you have, I have a niece who was just like that, she is very tall, blonde and a gorgeous 18 year old now, but still a lovely nature.
Yesterday OH and I said our goodbyes to BIL standing in the sun in the churchyard and watching the funeral service on my phone as a live feed, all a bit surreal, but we both wanted to be there, my poor DSis looked wrecked I just wanted to hug her, but too far away.
A good thing for yesterday, lovely neighbours, lovely gardener son called to say he had 2 hours free there and then, It was very warm and he worked away with pick and shovel taking out 6 old shrubs etc, roots and all. He was booked for 3 week's time so lovely it was all done and no mud!
Have the best day all, hugs and spoons a plenty available. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)11 -
Good morning, fine and dry here, but I think it's cooler than yesterday.Gers, hope you and Mum had a peaceful night.DP1, hope you're feeling a bit better, my Dil was wiped out by the jab, but she always has a bad reaction to the normal flu jab as well.Ruby, those men following you and DD sounds very scary indeed, they were definitely up to no good. you did the right thing telling the police. It's a shame that you can't even take your dog for a walk without this kind of thing. My Dd is a bit nervous about walking her dog now, it seems to be getting worse.Sorry to hear your legs are bad again Dumpling.Hope your hands are a bit better now its's warmer Nels.We went to the seaide yesterday, what a lovely change, it brightened us up no end. We went to 3 different places along the coast, and had fish and chips. Everywhere was packed and it was so warm, not even that chilly little breeze we so often get on the NE coast..TA, how nice that your granddaoughter helped in the garden, you'll miss seeing the girls. Not a lot happening today, just doing "stuff" as my Dd calls it.Hope everyone has a good day - take care folks.14

Morning everyone
Covid jab on Monday has really knocked me for 6 and I spent most of yesterday in bed. I feel a bit better today but still achy and tired. I have jobs to do both inside and out so will just potter about slowly. I had my jab at our local Boots and they were so well organised and efficient. At least I'm on school holidays so not having to take any time off work.
Well I hope everyone has a good day and the sun is shining on you all13 -
Morning all
Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
It's supposed to be warm here again.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.12 -
Morning all,it's lovely again. The flags were delivered yesterday- unfortunately only half of them so DH popped in and told them, they're in boxes of 2, and they sent the number of flags not boxes, not sure when the rest are coming. In other exciting garden newsa tree surgeon has been sent by the conifer owning woman at the back of us, to check the roots. He doesn't think the roots are harming the stone wall at the bottom of the banking, but she has agreed to have between 10-15' taken off.Unfortunately he says he cant trim the side of the end tree ( the bit that blocks the sun off to us) yet as it would shock it & kill it, but in 6 months time. Seemed a decent chap, so 2 sets of neighbours and us are happy, we'll get so much more light in the kitchen.Tes(o are coming shortly, better go and fish my bags out - at least I'll not get wet transferring the stuff today.Hope you were all able to enjoy the sun yesterday.Ruby- how awful for you. It's getting ridiculous now,and everyday here in the local news and FB there are reports. The police said a woman had been arrested and 2 labs snatched from outside a shop were found with her miles away.Have a good day x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Morning folks.TA - what a great effort in the garden with DGD, it'll all look splendid soon.Dumpling - get better soon - you too DP1.Nelski - hope your hands are beginning to be less painful.Ruby - that incident sounds horrible, glad that there was someone else to help at the time.Yesterday a vaccinator from the house-bound team turned up to give DM her second jag. We discussed the benefits and the current situation and decided that having the jag was OK, so it was given. With a bit of luck my second one shouldn't be too long.Had a bad night with DM, her digestion is still not functioning well so she was rather disturbed by it processes (if you get my drift) which meant I was on standby. This is like the night of a thousand knivesI'm heading out shortly, haven't been anywhere since Saturday morning so need the fresh air and a wander around. The morning is fair with rain promised in the afternoon so I'll take my chances now.Hugs to our poorlies. Happy Wednesday to all.11
